Evening’s Reflective Tide

Evening’s Reflective Tide was created using fluid acrylics, allowing the paint to move, blend, and find its own direction across the canvas. The process has an element of unpredictability that I enjoy—the colors interact in ways that can be influenced but never completely controlled.

Layers of blue, black, and white flow into one another, creating patterns that remind me of water at dusk, when the last light reflects across a darkening surface. Some areas feel calm and almost still, while others suggest the movement of a changing tide.

The resin finish adds another dimension to the painting, creating a smooth, glass-like surface that enhances the depth and richness of the colors. As the surrounding light changes, different patterns and details become more noticeable, adding to the sense of movement within the work.

For me, Evening’s Reflective Tide captures that quiet transition between day and night—a moment that can feel peaceful and mysterious at the same time. As with all of my abstract work, I leave room for the viewer to experience something entirely their own.
