Where Water Remembers

“Where Water Remembers” began unexpectedly, created from the final drippings of paint left after I completed an acrylic-poured vase. Rather than allowing what remained to go unused, I became curious about what else it might become. I began manipulating the paint by hand, responding intuitively to its movement without knowing where the process would lead.

What emerged surprised me. The result was unlike my other pours—less predictable and shaped as much by discovery as intention. What began as remnants of another work developed its own identity, reminding me that creativity does not always begin with a plan. Sometimes it begins simply by recognizing possibility in what is left behind.

The title reflects that sense of continuation. The paint carries a history from one creation into another, yet becomes something entirely new. For me, “Where Water Remembers” is about transformation, experimentation, and trusting an unexpected direction. It represents one of the things I value most about abstract art: the moment when the process takes
